The battle for Minsk lasted 12 days, when it ended 300,000 soviet troops had been taken prisoner. In the air fierce battles were fought to smash an escape route to the citys defenders. It was during this chaos that Gerd Barkhorn scored his first victory against a Soviet DB-3 bomber. He had flown 120 missions throughout the Battle of Britain, and only succeeded in being shot down himself. It was only in Russia that his career really took off. Flight Lieutenant Albert R T Boys DFC *Signature Value : £20 (matted)	Reg Boys was posted to 467 Sqn RAAF during June 1943, and navigated S for Sugar for three different Captains, including the Squadron C/O, W/Cdr Hay. On 7th May 1945, he navigated Sugar as the first aircraft to bring POWs out of Germany to the UK.
Wing Commander Peter Olver DFC (deceased) *Signature Value : £50 (matted)	Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot, 611 and 603 squadrons. Wing Commander Peter Olver served with 603 Squadron on the 24th of October and on the following day his Spitfire was shot down but he baled out with only light injuries. When returning to duty he was transferred to 66 Squadron based at Biggin Hill and promoted to Flight Commander. He was posted to North Africa commanding No.238 and No.213 Sqn flying the Hurricane, and destroyed three Italian fighters on the ground. Flying with No.1 Sqn South African Air Force he scored another two kills before being shot down and taken prisoner for the rest of the war. He died on 14h February 2013.
